What the Bible Says about Salvation and Eternal Life
Understand that as you read the following verses, that these are from God's Word, the Bible, and God cannot lie.
"In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began" (Titus 1:2).
God's Word says:
All haved sinned:
Psalm 51:5, "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me."
Jeremiah 17:9, 10a, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the Lord search the heart . . ."
Romans 3:10-13, "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips."
Romans 3:18, "There is no fear of God before their eyes."
Romans 3: 23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Isaiah 53:5, 6, "But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all."
The Lord Jesus Christ, God's Son, died for our sins:
Ezekiel 18:4, "Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die."
I Timothy 1:15, "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."
II Corinthians 5:21, "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."
Salvation, Eternal Life from God is a free gift:
Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Ephesians 2:8, 9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."
A decision to receive this gift from God, must be made:
John 1:12, "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name."
Acts 16:31, "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house."
Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."
The one who believes has eternal life from God:
John 3:18, "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."
John 3:36, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."
John 5:24, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
I John 5:10-13, "He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
